Really popular place means a super long wait even on a Friday for lunch! By the time we got seated, we were starving and of course over ordered. The XLB were creative and colorful and had a fairly chewy exterior and juicy, plump interior. I was pleasantly surprised by the black truffle soup dumpling, but did not care for the gourd dumpling. The pan fried baos and noodles were good but not the best I have had. I was so excited for the rice roll ( fan tuan) but it had very little filling and the rice was dry! Major disappointment since this is such a nostalgic dish. Soy bean milk and fried crullers were again decent, but not amazing. I was expecting a lot from this place since it was popular and this is Flushing, but I think the XLB are the stars and everything else could pass as just above average at any other northern Chinese restaurant.
Huge soup dumplings filled with soup! I came here with a friend at around 7 pm on a Wednesday. The wait time was about 10 minutes before given a table. The general vibe of the place during our visit was very clean and quiet. The service was very fast given that it was dinnertime, but I think usually people come here earlier in the day around lunchtime, and on weekends. Between the two of us, we got the Signature Soup Dumplings and the Lucky Six Soup Dumplings. The main thing that blew me away was how big the soup dumplings were and how much soup they had inside! My favorite were the Signature Soup Dumplings for sure, but of the Lucky Six, I also liked the Scallop Soup Dumpling.
Why was I was today years old when I learned what soup dumplings were? We got caught in torrential rains so perfect opportunity for something warm to eat. My kids say let's get soup dumplings. I'm like good idea! Upon walking up I recognize this place from my many Flushing outtings. Always busy and now I know why. We were seated right away and given an ordering form...it took me no time to select the dumpling sampler aka the Lucky Six. My daughter asked if that was all I was getting. I say yes but baffled. While waiting for our food I say to self. Self what goes good with soup on a day like this? Ahh tea or warm saki! But the latter ALWAYS sounds better lol. Welp to my dismay they don't serve alcohol. Only beer....meh. No sense in throwing a tantrum so I just order a Sapporo. Our food comes out pretty quick. I look at my daughter's food and mine and ask where is my soup. She had a bowl and mine came in a steamer. That's when my kids enlighten me that the soup is INSIDE the dumplings. Mind blown! I felt like a kid in a candy shop. It was such an experience and a reminder that I need to get back to exploring. I narrowed my favorites down to the Truffle & Pork = Black dumplings Scallop = I see orange dumplings (my daughter says pink) They'll be seeing me more come winter time!
Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings is an absolute gem! From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the mouthwatering aroma of freshly steamed dumplings, and trust me, they do not disappoint. The soup dumplings are hands down the star of the show--delicate wrappers that perfectly hold the rich, flavorful broth and tender filling. Each bite is a burst of deliciousness! The pork soup dumplings are a must-try, but don't miss out on the crab and pork combination, which adds a subtle sweetness to the savory goodness. Beyond the dumplings, the rest of the menu is equally impressive. The scallion pancakes are crispy and addictive, and the pan-fried buns have a delightful texture with a juicy filling. The service is quick and efficient, and even when the place is packed (which it often is), the staff manages to keep things running smoothly. Whether you're a longtime fan of soup dumplings or a first-timer, Nan Xiang offers an experience that is both authentic and satisfying. This is the kind of place you'll find yourself craving again and again. Highly recommend!
Best service and food ever!!! So skibkdi sigma!!!!! The dumplings and the xiao long bao are so good!!!!! I recommend everyone go here immediately!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I came here with a friend on a busy night, but the table for 2 wait was only 10-15 minutes, so don't let the massive crowds waiting deter you from coming if you have a smaller group! The food is phenomenal. The Flushing location is by far the best one and the soup dumplings were so good. I only wish that I had more room in my stomach to eat more. I would also recommend the nian gao (rice cake) - it's very fresh and delicious. I'd definitely come back any time and can't wait to eat more soup dumplings here!
When I go to flushing I usually visit the same spots. This time I came too early and nothing was really open besides some bakeries. Nan Xiang was open at 9 and my friend and I decided to pay them a visit. They were upstairs and through the heavy doors were a beautifully decorated restaurant. So clean! Great seating and fast service. We ordered soup dumplings and beef udon stir fry. Omg it was so good. The shrimp and pork soup dumplings had so much soup! Each one had a spoon full of soup that was over flowing. Meat was juicy and the wrapper was thin. Perfection with every bite. The noodles were BOMB. I did not expect it to be so addicting, I couldn't stop eating at 9am lol. Will 10000% be back. 10000% recommend. FYI IF YOU DONT LIKE NUMBING (MALA) tell them so they can tell you which dish has it. Bc it's normally part of the spicy dishes. You can't take it out. It's all mixed with the regular chili seasoning .
Amazing food, reasonable price and fast service. Loved it and we're definitely going to go back.
